Profile: Amanda Alders, MS has an extensive level of expertise in technological mediums (e.g. video, web interfaces) and she currently serves as co-chair for the research subdivision of the American Art Therapy Association's (AATA) Technology Committee. She will also be co-chairing the AATA's film festival at this year's conference. Ms. Alders enjoys teaching and she incorporates technological features in the classroom to assist learning and collaboration. For example, her classes are audio recorded and made available as podcasts. Additionally, Ms. Alders has made multiple video documentaries of her work and others' with older adults. One series of videos she filmed and edited on a new method of arts learning for older adults while in Finland. This video series coincided with a certificate course that Ms. Alders helped develop and that has since become an education course accepted as Continuing Education Credits. Fluent in Spanish and English, Amanda Alders, MS previously studied Art Therapy in Mexico City in the program, CITA. More recently, Ms. Alders studied in Rochester, NY where she obtained her Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy. Currently, she is studying on the doctoral level at Florida State University in the Art Education department and will investigate art therapy's effect on cognitive performance in ethnically diverse older adults. Professionally, Ms. Alders is very interested in mixed-methods efficacy research.
